I have a special cat shaped alarm clock that I don’t know how to switch off at the weekend. Actually I have two of them. They seem to think that breakfast is at 5am every day, including Saturday and Sunday. I have tried ignoring them, shooing them, closing the door on them, and everything in between, but nothing works. It amazes me that two small(ish) cats can make so much noise when they want attention. It’s easier just to get up and feed them, but at least I can go back to bed afterwards. Luxury.
Breakfast – Saturday is weightlifting day so I need a good breakfast to see me through two hours of snatch, clean and jerk, back squat, and anything else coach Sauro chooses to throw at us. Today I had two eggs fried in olive oil and an apple, fig and avocado smoothie.
Lunch – I knew today’s lunch was going to be long. I met up with one of my closest friends, Lydia, and we know how to jibber jabber. Properly, like pros. Lunch was five and a half hours and that’s not even a record for us. We went to Del Aziz on Bankside and had very awesome food. I got roast chicken with green vegetables, it also came with potatoes but I just ignored them. Lydia had steak with the most beautiful fries I have seen in a long time. I don’t actually like potatoes much, but these were seriously good (I had one, honestly just the one). It’s a shame they don’t do sweet potato fries. For dessert I had a yummy latte. The staff were awesome and gave us a corner table, served our food and drinks and then ignored us the whole time we were there, exactly what we wanted.
Here’s a picture of Lydia’s lunch – aren’t those fries just adorable??
Dinner – We spent so long in Del Aziz that it was dinner time when I got home. I cooked up a very quick dinner of baked salmon with a splash of vietnamese fish sauce, chilli, garlic and shallots, and served this with some stir-fried veg. Then I had a couple of medjool dates for dessert.
Matthew and I watched Pirates of the Caribbean while we ate dinner – I love that movie! Most people are out partying and drinking on Saturday night and all we want to do is snuggle on the sofa with the cats and watch telly, we’re so boring.
